Why don't guys talk to me?

Here's something from one guy's point of view.

You know, I have a crush that honestly I'm very shy and a little uncomfortable around. It terrifies me. Honestly I just talked to her today, and all I could get out was a brief, stupid little conversation, and then she said she had to go and walked off; and talked to other people for about 20 minutes before I left. Ouch. That feels like a little bit of a rejction, though it's more kind than a lot of the one's I've gotten. Anyway.

I swear my heart was pounding so loudly and so fast that I almost thought it was going to leap out of me when I first approached her (and yet I've talked to her before). I felt like an idiot.

"Did she hear me? Is she just ignoring me? Is she just not paying attention? Will she not remember who I am? Will she want to talk to me? What do I say after I say hi and how was your week? Does my breath smell? She looks so great. . ."

Now, if you're in a group, that makes it much more difficult. We have to get you away from the friends a little so we can flirt or ask you out. But you don't know us, so you're guards up as it is. That's more tricky. Then you're friend might be what we sometimes call "cockblockers." Girls who will be nasty or depressing or feign sickness just to get you away from talking to us. We not only have to show you that we're not weirdo's before we try to get a chance to flirt or talk to you, but we have to quickly impress you, then impress your friends and get them onto my side. Otherwise if you say no, it's a more public humiliation. I went up to you, got shot down, and then I awkwardly have to leave. I'm embarrassed, and knowing the rejections I've gotten, the girl is going to go for the attack IF she hasn't already.

That's a lot of hassle for someone I don't know. She had better seem really cool from afar, have something that I feel compelled to get out of that comfort zone and talk to you, and as pretty as you may be, and as sparkling a personality as you may have, you have to kind of encourage me to get past the nerves so I can approach you. Whether that's through a smile, flirting, or just being so interesting, there usually has to be more than that to where we feel safe talking to you.

Girls unintentionally and unknowingly do a lot of things that intimidate guys. I'm going to give you a short list of things that do:

1. Overdressing for the occasion

2. Being in a group of all female friends. This goes double if you're the best looking one of the bunch.

3. Talking on your cell phone a lot of pulling it out to text message people in public.

4. Not drinking alcohol when going to a place such as a bar or club that serves alcohol primarily.

5. Talking about guys, clothes, jewelry, or makeup (or other things like that) when in earshot of guys.

There's a whole bunch more.

If you catch a guy looking at you and he quickly glances away cause he knows he's been caught, keep looking at him and smiling at him. It lets him know that you know, and it makes you seem powerful, which translates to irresistable.
