+1 yi would have advice if your doing it for health reasons. you didn't provide much information so its hard to say. but it is not healthier because of the meat issue. its healthier because of the TYPE of meat non vegetarians usually consume. you can have greater health than a vegetarian and still eat meat. its just that most people don't. its either one extreem or the other with most people. look into traditional japanese diet. they live the longest and always have and it is not genetic but dietary and lifestyle and there are studies to prove it. their diet is A LOT of fish and rice and vegetables, and none of the junk most people eat for desserts and things. its simple, clean, and healthy.
vegetarians are healthy because they cut out the red meat and pork and processed meats and fried meats horrible things for your body. not because the cut out all meat all together. if you eat like the traditional japanese or mediterranean, you don't need to become vegetarian. cause as a vegetarian you can still destroy your body with using tons of salt and eating junk food and sweets and things like that. we tend to look at fads instead of looking at diets as a whole and from all aspects. certain animal proteins and BCAA profiles that our body needs are only found in these animal proteins. you can't get them from tofu, tofurkey, or any of these other engieered failures of replicating meat. fish is great for you. lets face it, sure there are exceptions we can find if you look really hard (jake shields, etc.) but most vegetarian and definitely vegan males look sickly and weak. and they don't look like this because they are so amazingly healthy either. their nourishment is missing something vital. there is a place in the middle of this dietary quest that is good. but its not vegetarian, and its not fast food, red meat, candy, fat typical American lifestyle either. we need to get away from extreemes and look at the cultures that do it right and look at real life evidence. that's my advice for what its worth.00 Reply

Find good sources of protein. I recommend you become a lacto-vegan, which means you can consume dairy products. In my opinion, this is the most doable path without getting into all the BS like "eating only fish/chicken". Why be a vegetarian if you're gonna eat MEAT?
The only meat in my current diet is chicken and salmon and I can imagine substituting that with 100% Dairy WHEY. It's very doable, just learn to love beans and nuts. Tomatoes are also huge.27 Reply
+1 yConsult your doctor for good diet plans/books that keep your nutrition intake balanced. The honest fact is, eating vegetarian will keep you healthier than eating meat, not because there's anything wrong with meat, but because western diets have too much. There's healthy and then there's overkill. By focusing on what you're eating, your body will end up running far more efficiently. In fact, eating a primarily vegetarian diet doesn't mean you have to give up meat altogether, it just means cutting meat intake down to, say, once a week.

Opinion Owner+1 yso go die in a tree and get raped by geppetto.
Don't be annoyed at others who eat meat or when your at an event and there are few choices to eat. Its not their fault you decided to be picky.
21 ReplyIf animals weren't meant to be eaten, they wouldn't be made of meat.

Does that mean that humans should be eaten?
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yThere's nothing wrong with eating more or less of a type of food. But don't cut anything out completely.

+1 yBegin with having "meat-free days"? :) like twice or so a week and then increase the days as you feel it work. Make sure to get proteins and other vitamins from other sources thou! Search for recipes on the internet for vegetarian dishes and try out new things. :D
10 ReplyStudies have proven that vegetarians are healthier and live longer. My boyfriend is vegetarian and there are tons of stuff you can eat that isn't meat, pretty much any meat you eat there is a vegetarian substitute. I was very surprised to see how much selection there actual is. A lot of it is actual pretty good and most of it has more protein then meat.

Yeah, its silly to not eat animals. People have been doing it darn near forever, and so far its worked out pretty well. If animals were bad for you, why would animals eat animals?10 Reply

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yFocus on getting enough protein through things like beans, lentils, seeds, and nuts. Do your research before you make the switch. Getting enough protein is challenging when you are a vegetarian but can be done.
13 Reply- +1 y
It's actually not as difficult as most people would think. Especially with all the soy products they have around now.
Opinion Owner+1 yMaybe not for a 100 pound girl, but its more challenging when you are a 6'3" male with a large frame and a good deal of muscle mass. I did the math for fun before and determined what it would take me even though I wasn't really planning to do it. The volume of food was daunting. =P
- +1 y
for a girl it is easy. if you want to be a male who is built like a girl it is easy. if you are a man who has some muscle and are over 125lbs., it is very hard. do you vege-girls know how much soy/tofu/etc. you would have to consume to get 200g per day protein requirement of a large athletic male? not only would you have to spend about 6 hrs a day eating/drinking (not that your stomach could hold it all) but it would also cost you about $1000 a month in just the specialty foods alone.
I don't mean to stop you but it sucks because before this you were eating meats. Its not easy unless you really have the determination.Btw why you want to be a vegetarian?
02 ReplyAdvice? Well it's not really hard you just substitute what you get from meat for healthier alternatives. Are you doing it for the health benefits or what?
02 ReplyVegetarians are sexy! I'm one and I love male vegetarians! It's pretty easy too I've been one for three years and I never think about meat, I don't miss it at all. Also it can help you prevent obesity/ heart disease
