+1 yCutting back to 500 calories a day is not the healthiest or best way to lose weight.
If you do the “starve yourself” diet, then you’ll lose it first where you don’t want to (breasts) and last where you DO want to (thighs and stomach). So just look at your current shape—you’ll be like that, only smaller. Plus, what you lose is 75% muscle, and only 25% fat, so you’ll be losing mostly what you want to keep. And losing muscle doesn’t just mean that you’ll look flabby—muscle mass is what determines how many calories you burn, so if you lose a lot of muscle, then you’ll have to continue to eat less and less in order not to GAIN weight. So it’s actually pretty destructive in the long run. And don’t be in too much of a hurry—if you lose weight fast, you’ll have sagging skin and stretch marks! That’s not a myth—I’ve seen it on real women.
Instead, try cutting back to like 1200 calories/day. If you are burning about 2000 a day (which is typical for someone your weight) then you should lose roughly 2 lbs./week, which is the healthiest rate for your body. Take dance, yoga, swimming, or karate to force yourself to incorporate regular exercise into your schedule. All of these will not only help you lose weight faster and build muscle, but they’ll also increase your flexibility as an added bonus! Exercise that’s not JUST exercise (and that’s scheduled) will not only be easier to stick to, but it’s also fun! ALWAYS a great habit to develop : )
Good luck! If you have other questions or want some additional exercises, just comment/message me.73 Reply- +1 y

+1 yFirst off,How tall are you? AND I'm sure that you know- 500 calories a day is starving your body of important nutrients. The body will not be able to sustain itself off of so few calories for a long period of time. Your body will start to rebel. Christian Bale in "The Machinist" decided to stave himself for the role. Before he reached his goal weight, his heart began to shrink,in which his doctors heavily advised him to discontinue pursuing his goal. Imagine your heart shrinking which could lead to cardiac arrest and other complications. 3500 calories a day are a lot especially if you are not burning it off regularly which causes weight gain. 2000 calories is a normal intake so I could see 1600 or 1700 calorie intake.Low carb, high protein, cut the sugar and processed foods, low sodium..EXCERCISE. Most often people want to starve themselves or have a quick fix rather than excercising. You may very well lose weight with 500 calories a day...but just know that calories are energy. If you lose weight,it will come back with a vengeance! It will be even more difficult for you to drop the weight once you gain it back and then some. Losing weight gradually is healthier and you will be able to keep the weight off.

+1 yMany people have pointed out that going to 500 Kcal/day is an extraordinarily bad idea and that 90 lbs is most likely an *extremely* unrealistic weight goal. Go look at a BMI chart.
All I have to add is that such a strict diet will most likely require a level of discipline that is impossible to maintain, and you will almost certainly fail to maintain that diet and become extremely discouraged afterwards.
You should not be looking at diet as "something to do until I get to a certain weight." A diet is a lifestyle change. It's something you need to be able to do for the rest of your life to stay healthy, and up and down "yo-yo dieting" is actually worse for your long term health than maintaining a steady, slightly high weight. Cut the junk food and just eat full, healthy meals low in saturated / trans fats, sugars, and refined starches and eat more fiber, vegetables, low fat meats, and unsaturated oils. You'll look better and be healthier over the long run than if you try a starvation diet.
And if eating healthy is too hard for you, then eating 500 Kcal/day for a long period of time is just fantasy talk anyway.20 Reply
+1 yDo you really want to weigh 90 lbs? That is not healthy or attractive. I see a lot of women recommending cutting to 1200 calories, even that is too low. You just slow your metabolism and make yourself hungry all the time and then you develop a pathological love hate guilt relationship with food. The absolute lowest your caloric intake should be is 1200, but even 2000 calories is just about your basal metabolic rate. So peg your calories closer to the healthy 2000 level and make sure you eat good foods (cut out sugars, candy, soda, even diet, don't eat at restaurants a lot because they always over-serve you; and make sure to get enough fruits and vegetables and whole grains). Try to walk a bit more and in general just increase your physical activity level.
Good luck, be safe.00 Reply

okie so I have some advice since I'm in schoool to become a dietetic technician:). First don't cut your calories down to 500! anything under 1000 cal/day for women is considered anorexic. Try cutting your calories to 1500 or anything just above 1000. ALSO 90 lb is not healthy!.at all! I'm 5"1.107lb and that's normal! 90lb is not healthy at all. And when you are dieting don't cut out carbs.many mnay people make this mistake, but carbs are your bodys main source of energy. When eating meals consider portion sizes. remember a serving of meat is the size of your fist. Ensure that you are getting the appropriate servings in each food group. Try drinking skim milk instead of 2%, eat whole grains instead of white breads, and try eating low fat foods and with no trans/saturated fats! Try eating tuna at least twice a week as it has omega 3-very good for you! and its low in fat. when you snack try having raw veggies, fruit, yogurt, granola bar, popcorn! And try being more active.start with walking every other day and start jogging, or if you have a gym membership try lifting weights. Well I hope this somewhat helps:) Remember this will take time! Take it slow.its the healthy way and this way you'll learn to eat healthy and lose weight!

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yYou'll end up in hospital and they'll give you a cooked tomato to eat.
Plus when you lose weight by starving yourself you'll just put it back on almost straight away.
If you want to lose weight, do it slowly- excercise, eat healthier.
Go see a dietitian and work out a nice, healthy diet plan that'll help you lose weight.
Also when you excercise you'll build up your metabolism and that'll burn up your body fat in the future leaving you skinnier than you would be if you starved yourself and then ate junk again.
Another thing, 90 lbs is completely ridiculous a weight to be considering going down to. It is unhealthy and you'll look awful. Most guys don't want tiny anorexic "coathanger"-like girls.
Lose as much weight as you need to at the rate that is healthy for your body.
No crash diets, no throwing up. And no diet drinks because they actually make you gain weight by stopping thyroid function and have aspartame in them that cause serious diseases like MS, Parkinson's and Cancer.
Trust me, I've been there and I just put the weight back on.
A lot of my family members have suffered from eating disorders too and one of has done severe damage to their body that they are still recovering from even though it was years ago.
I hope I helped. Message me if you want to talk or something.
And good luck with losing (the right amount of) weight.10 Reply
+1 yDO NOT DO THIS! 500 Calories is STARVING yourself! You will be damaging your body, while at the same time making it think it needs to hold onto the fat reserves you already have for survival!
Honestly, your best bet is to eat ATLEAST 1400 Calories a day! Eat 5 small healthy meals throughout the day and go for a 45 minute walk everyday. this will take the weight off and keep you healthy!
90 lbs is way too thin IMO. I'm not a girl but that sounds very unhealthy and probably would end with you in the hospital.30 ReplyYou need to eat at least 1000 to 1200 calories a day so your metabolism doesn't shut down. If you eat less than this, you will lose weight, but when you're done dropping the pounds and start eating again, you will gain most of that weight back because your body will be in starvation mode and will store every last calorie you eat.
It is much better to eat 1200-1500 calories a day of healthy foods, like fruit, veggies, lean protein, etc. and work out for about 30-60 min a day. This includes cardio and strength training. If you do this and lose about a pound or two a week, you will be fit and toned before long. If you do it the way that you are suggesting, you will be "skinny fat," which means that you won't weigh very much, but you will have gross, saggy excess skin from losing weight too quickly and not working out.10 ReplyInstead of cutting down that low try eating more earlier. I have been researching this and heavier people don't eat enough early in the day and eat a ton a t night and for dinner. Thin people do the opposite. Eat a big breakfast. This will jump start your metabolism for the whole day. Then eat a medium lunch. And eat a very small dinner. Then you don't hold onto the weight over night. If you don't eat early your metabolisn will be slow and you won't burn it off but if you eat late when you sleep your body holds onto the weight once your metabolism slows down. So big breakfast mediium lunch and very small dinner. And you will loose a a lot of weight

+1 yGoing under 1200 calories is doing serious damage to your body. YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE AT THIS RATE. The only plausible way a full grown adult could be 90 pounds is if she's naturally small boned, and less than 5'.
How tall are you? I'd like to help and set some more reasonable goals for you. :]20 ReplyI'm no nutritionist or doctor, but 500 calories a day seems extraordinarily unhealthy -- isn't a 1500 - 2000 calorie diet recommended for most women?
And unless you're very short and small framed, 90 pounds might be an unrealistic goal.
Have you run this plan by a doctor to protect your long-term health?10 Reply
+1 yokay, killing yourself to get to a certain weight is not the answer. Maybe try concentrating on one size at a time using exercise and eating less food with high fat intake. Listen to the folks who posted first they have your best interest at heart. 3500 to 500 is a terrible idea. Ask your doctor what your healthy weight should be for your height and build. Some people are just big and have big frames. Be careful with how you do this or you can physically damage your system.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 ythat would be starving yourself and it is horrible for your body! your body will start to eat away not just at any fat but over time also at muscle and then steal nutrients from your brain. if you do this seriously it could cause serious and permanent damage to your nervous system and muscles. I urge you to love your body for the way it is and to understand that there is a happy medium. you do not need to be emaciated to be beautiful.

+1 yUnless you're only 4 and a half feet tall, 90 lbs is EXTREMELY underweight. Like hideously underweight.
40 Reply You should try eating normal 2000-2500 calories a day. slowly build off. And 90 pounds? Unless you're a dwarf that's very unhealthy. Why not try a nutrionist (or whatever you call them)?

Anonymous(36-45)+1 ywow that's amazying. I want to lose like 30 pounds, could you tell me how you did it? just be careful that you don't totally cut out calories because you need them to function. and if you work out, that burns calories

Asker+1 yI lost 15 pounds of body fat in one month by going on the atkins diet and I was eating a whole pack of cheese every single day (like those 6 piece swiss cheese circles) I ate a whole package every single day and lost weight anyway.
Opinion Owner+1 yWow, well it's good to hear about different methods out there. thanks.

That is SO bad for you. Cheese is mostly saturated fat, and I hope that's not all you ate for other nutritional reasons.
+1 yI think it is possible but not very healthy..
