Why do guys lie and say they're single?

So I got speaking to this guy, said he was single, took my number.. Asked me out blah blah blah. All was good but there was something in the back of my head telling me not to trust this guy. So I dedided to have a little stalk on his Instagram and came across his girlfriends page... Oh it gets better he then begged me not to say anything to her even though he had lied to both of us and I of course told her because I'm an actually decent fucking human being and no person deserves to be treated like a piece of shit... But please tell me.. Why do men lie about their relationships?

This dude in question isn't serious about relationships, he's on a hunt constantly (based on your description), I already feel bad for the girl he's with.

His relationship with the other girl won't last long, but if you want to fasten up the process by giving him the boot of life and a lesson to be learned, you tell his girlfriend on what went down, but be ready to be a part of the drama if she defends him and accuses you and stuff.

Either way look at it like this, you dodged a major bullet, in case you were planning to be serious with him.

You did the right thing, some guys need to learn and the only way they learn is when they get exposed or get caught red handed (applies of the females as well).

Since he does not feel any sort of remorse doing it, I think its better that you told his girlfriend, because he would continue to act like this again & again, till someone really exposes him, thats when it would end for good.

I might sound harsh saying all that, but thats the only way to make his girlfriend realise on what kind of a filth he's with and for the guy to realise what he's doing and putting an end to it.

It's not the first time I've had to break to someone's girlfriend after finding out they're not single they their boyfriend is a worthless piece of crap, thank you I know I did the right thing, but tbh a lot of girls don't even do anything after being told something like that. I hope for her sake she dumps him and leaves him behind because he'll only do it again

Girls do that as well, I don't think it's gender related, I can tell you a quick story about my ex-girlfriend, we were together for 2 years, behind my back, she flirted with the other guy, until she finally broke up with me, within a week I was seeing her hanging out with that dude that she was flirting on my back with. I think that was the worse I've ever felt in my life.

Fast forward a year , I get an E-Mail from her asking to catch up with her, I come to find out that the relationship with the other dude did not work out, I ask her what does she achieve by trying to get in touch with me, to which she miserably says "nothing, not trying to achieve anything, just wanted to see how you are thats all".

And within a week she gets into another fresh relationship.

So I think it's not gender related, it's just some do it more than the others.

I think because of the online age. Today its really easy to get a girl, which makes it easier to take people for granted. You just have to open a Tinder account and you can start meeting new people instantly, literally without having to get up from your couch. You dont even have to talk to them in person which makes lying easier.
