Him calling you "Buddy" is his way to keep you at bay. He's made it clear he doesn't want a girlfriend ,( regardless of his telling you he likes you ) but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to kiss , cuddle , and maybe even bump uglies someday . I don't think this guy likes you , but he does want you to believe so. I think he wants more just not in the relationship sense . . . I think you see what I'm getting at.

he does not want to date you but wouldn't mind doing OTHER THINGS. he knows you like him and I feel that he may in someway think he can use that to his advantage.
He is letting you know that he is still not ready to see you as a girlfriend. "Buddy" is a pretty clear message in a guy's vocabulary. But give him some time and he should come around. He clearly has feelings for you if he said all those things. Those aren't things you really say to a buddy. So when he's ready, he'll come to you.
I hate when people call me buddy. And it's usually people that drink a lot or do drunks (in my experience and opinion anyway). My theory is they can't remember names so they just call everyone "buddy"? lol
