You just tell him... if things don't work out and he would like you a gf to keep you in mind. If you don't like being up front, keep tabs on him and if he has a break up make the offer. I would just tell him or send him a note, if shy. I don't have time to fudge around and play 'what does this mean' games. I like being crystal clear.
But, you need to keep looking for a guy of your own instead of pining away in the wings for this guy... don't put life on hold.
As much as I would want to make a move, I wouldn't do anything until he did. And I would hope he wouldn't make any moves until he broke up with his gf. Sounds like he should rethink his relationship. You can't deny great chemistry and if it's not there with his gf but it is with someone else he's spending a lot of time with, well that's something to really think about.
I do NOTHING because I don't get involved with attached men. If and when he's single I'll talk to him then. It's not fair for an *attached* man to approach a single woman knowing he's not going to leave his gf anytime soon.
If you're this guy I suggest you not get her involved in this love triangle. Wait until you're single and available
I wait for him to make a move.. But I don't force that upon him.. I give him his space etc etc.. His the one in a relationship so it's really up to him..

I don't make a move, because I don't condone cheating in any form. I would be wary if he had feelings for me while in a relationship with another girl, because he could easily repeat that instance of having feelings for someone else if he were to ever date me.
I do nothing... Except distance myself from him. I don't need the pain of being next to someone who won't reciprocate my feelings... and even if he does, do I just ignore the woman he's dating? No.
I be the bigger person and let it go.
Do nothing, I'm not letting my hormones ruin a friendship. One's will must be strong than desire.
