Would you still shoot your shot with someone who’s dating someone?

There’s this guy I REALLY like who I met in my group of friends. When I met him I had a boyfriend though, now I don’t. I do feel there’s chemistry between us but he’s been dating someone for about 4 months now. They’re not official and he hasn’t asked her to be his girlfriend yet but she’s taking him to meet her family and all that. Even though he’s never taken her around his (I know this info because of mutual friends). Though not a friend of mine, the girl is a sweetheart and so I also feel bad even having feelings for him. She’s always complimenting me, says I’m a really pretty gal and expressed her low self esteem that same day to another friend. there's also the fact he doesn’t know my feelings, and non of us ever really made a hardcore move. Besides him drunkenly pecking my knee because he spilt beer on it (this is when they were dating as well) talking really close to me, or following me on insta. What would y’all do in my situation? Just back off?
