Why are White guys the most preferred to all girls?

Its come to my knowledge that white guys are preferred above all other men. I'm just curious to know why that is. Its been scientifically proven that race does play a part in the dating world. Racially preferences are stated on dating sites and racial bias is alive which sees girls pick certain men over others. Data gathered from dating sites such as Okcupid clearly show racial biasness. Even here on G@G there are a lot of preferences for white guys. Why is it i wonder? A lot of Asian girls seam to prefer white men over their own. They also respond to white males over their own as data has shown. Any non-white person who has online dated will know that race always comes into it. This study conducted included millions of users and what it came to find is that racial bias has increased over the years. Christian Rudder, the site’s co-founder, says: “OKCupid users are certainly no more open-minded than they used to be. If anything, racial bias has intensified a bit.”This isn't the only study but more have shown and proven that preferences for white guys are more than other men. This is before chemistry or any kind of connection is made.

Also, you can't entirely draw these conclusions from OkCupid. Because OkCupid is self selected.

There exist specific dating sites for single black people, for single Asians, etc. Unless storm front or whatever has a dating forum (It probably does, god help us) there aren't really dating sites for white people. They just use general ones - like OkCupid. Some black and Asian people also use sites like OkCupid.

The thing is, the white people on OkCupid represent both those white people who are happy to date interracially AND those who only want to date other white people. By contrast, if you're Asian, and only want to date Asians, you probably don't use OkCupid, you go use some other site that caters to asian-asian dating.

So though there are some interesting things to learn about race and dating from okcupid data, it's a biased sample.

There are other interesting things in the OkCupid data. For instance, yes, black men get lower response rates than Asian men who get lower response rates then white men - on average. The differences between these groups though are MUCH smaller than the differences on:
- being good looking vs. below average looks.
- high salary versus low salary

Haven't seen the data, but I suspect height. (and for women, without question, weight).

I don't know if okcupid's non-white users are representative of general populations (outside of likely being more willing to date interracial). To use an obvious point, on average in the U. S., white men have higher income/wealth than black men. Women on OkCupid respond to white men more often than black men. Women on OkCupid respond to higher income men more than lower income men. I'd -love- to see the race data normalized for income - it may be that there's NOT much difference in white/black response rates once you control for money. Similarly I'd like to see the data controlling for height (men) and weight (women).

Lets not make to many if's and but's on the matters. I understand your points and theyre good too but the study had obviously had controlled variables in place which would include looks and height. If stats controlled for those variables have been run they have not been publicly disclosed.

The numbers you are referring to are the raw numbers. They are a very useful dataset for studying things where okcupid users are an unbiased sample.

We unconsciously look for the strongest gene's.

I'm a white woman, and my current boyfriend is half white/half native American. All my exes have been white but I'd be open to dating other races.
To me it boils down to cultural differences over race. Someone can have a very similar cultural upbringing to you and be of a different race; or they can be of the same race and yet have a very different cultural background. I'd be open to learning about different cultures but I also think it could be difficult if those cultures had many conflicting values (eg, women in the home vs working, it's 100% acceptable for a woman to work in my culture but in other cultures the woman is expected to remain in the home, and etcetera).

I also think how you grew up, where you grow up, what your options were, and your family/friends influences could effect what races you are attracted to.
I honestly don't have a race preference, but for each race I'm attracted to a certain look/style for each.
But if you must know, I'm Black and I like Asian guys (preferably the Middle east or Chinese), White guys, and Darker-skinned people from foreign countries. I don't know why but I find Black guys here less attractive than, say, someone from Africa or Haiti.

As far as whites being a preferred race when it comes to romance, I would hope that's not true, but I really don't know.

I live in a very multicultural area, and my life has been incredibly multicultural as well. I have lived with someone from Belgium, people from The Netherlands, someone from Hong Kong, someone from China, and I now rent with someone from Thailand. I have dated with Mexican girls, a Pacific Islander girl, some white girls, and I have friends of different religions. For me, I just don't see race or ethnicicty as being tied to a person's value, so the concept seems very foreign to me.

Also, I had never been exposed by this idea of "whites are preferred" until I came to GaG. Take that for what it's worth.

If there are two girls standing from afar, one dark haired one light haired, even if your preference is brunette, your eyes will first set on the blonde, even if that`s not what you like. Eyes are just in general allured to lighter colors. This might not apply to "every" single person in the entire world, but for the most part, according to the study, that`s how eyes work. Do you realise skin tone does not remain constant. If you're black maybe you would realise that. I become lighter in winter and autumn and darker in summer. I become lighter in summer too and vice versa. As far as light colours being more attractive your way off. If i saw two pictures of a girl one blonde and the other brunette where my eyes initially go is absolutely not because of whose attractive. Id look at the brunette because she's more appealing. You also have to understand that these sites are mostly in the US where the majority of people are white, so that's what we see not just in the media but out in society. I don't think it's "right' to have racial preferences at all, since personally it's not something I consider. We are both designed differently, you were designed to find that with the strongest genes so that your offspring has the highest possibility of surviving, after all, you can only produce a set every 9 months.. I am lucky enough to live in a situation where i live with 50 women which constantly change on a weekly basis, 95% being white Caucasians. I get more white women here than any white man. Cause the media has drawned (?) us to a specific beauty ideal and facial features which is and are white. White is supposed to be the race with the most pretty and symmetric features. This ideal is Standart in every culture as from what I've experienced.

Also, white people are the main population in western country's so that's why we are mainly appealed to them.

Well its seen as dating up. The darker you are, generally the harder it is to garner the kind of female attention a white guy would get who was in your league. But its all relative. You can still do fine dating regardless of skin color, but you will likely need to work a little harder

People aren't going to say that, as its largely a subconscious thing, but you've also got a lot of media praise for white beauty which makes them more desired. Black people on the other hand, well, we have a lot of negative stereotypes going for us, so the extra work you have to do as a black person goes into first disproving that you fit the stereotype, then you have to try and actually attract the girl.
