God, yes, is it refreshing. If you like him, say so. If you're angry, tell him why. If something is important to you, let him know.
I think the line to tread here is being direct and being forceful.
Good example: "What you did made me feel angry, and this is why I feel that way"
Bad example: "What you did made me angry, now fix it or I'm dumping your ass"
Let him know what you want, and tell him how you feel. Let him decide how to use this information, and be sure to listen to his side of things as well. Communication is everything in a relationship, and things work much better when both people are working in the same direction.
Beating around the bush is such a pain! Trying to figure women out is more annoying than fun. So in my opinion, yes. I personally love hearing things the way they are. If she likes something, say so. If she doesn't say why not. If something is bothering her, say so and talk about it. Just removes the chance of confusion.

I like women who are direct. There's a difference between being direct however and being overbearing. Know the difference and you will be fine.
As a direct and straightforward person, I would appreciate a little more initiative and directness on the part of the woman. I know where I stand and she does too. Leave the games out of it.

Yes I wish more girls would initiatie, of course those type of girls are ridiculously, insanely extremely rare.
