Well as you said, convenience. I always have two (well now one, my boyfriend lost my second one). Just in case. And they've become so normal to me that I literally just forget. Like if you ask me for a hair tie i have to think for a second, they're just not even there to me.
So when my formal a few years ago came around, or events I've gone to recently, I've completely forgotten and quickly chuck it in a purse (and that's if I remember, I hate bracelets so it's not like I realise when I put one on).
I don't know about other girls, but the one I wear is from my boyfriend. :")
He used to have longish (=shoulder-length) hair so he needed a hair tie for when he played football. When we got together he gave it to me (I can't use it since it's worn out already) and I always wear it around my wrist. 😅
I just feel like I need one. You never know when you might need to put your hair up. Plus I kind of put them on without thinking. I pick them up around the house or when I take one out of my hair I just instinctively put it on my wrist.
Sounds like it's just mainly for convenience. Maybe they decide they want to put it up sometime during prom (getting in the way or whatever). However, it may also be a fashion statement. I'm a guy, so, I have no room to say what's in style and what isn't

You never know when you're gonna need to put your hair up. It's for convenience. I regret it when I don't have any on my wrists or my hair's not up or done
Lol I always have a hair elastic on my wrist. I've been in too many situations where I needed one and didn't have one. So now I'm always prepared in case I get hot, my hair messes up, it's windy, blah blah blah.
I mean, I always wear one because I almost always end up using it.
I wear one all the time because my hair is hella long and it gets in the way😱
