Mine seems like it too! He asked how I'm doing and if i had plans for the vacation. I thought he was just extra friendly but the next time, I came he asked what i did over the holidays.
It seemed like he's trying to be personable but I don't know for sure. He opened the door for me as i left the office... funny thing is my old dentist (different company) wasn't as nice and I paid out of pocket there!! Now I'm insured by gov aid and the treatment is better, how bizarre I thought.

I have been visiting this dentist for 6+ years. At my last root canal sitting he was being too friendly, he continuously kept on giving me the compliments on my fitness. In the middle of my treatment he used to touch my shoulder, my hand. Even when I was trying to get up from the sleeping position he used to give me support by holding my shoulder. Then he himself removed my drape which was tied around my neck and looked at my boobs and said ‘you are soo fit’ in very lower voice. I felt he was turned on. Then he took my hand and asked if I was feeling okay. I said yes then he put his hand on my back.
At every visit he caressed my head.
I'm in sort of the same boat. I really like my dentist he has been kind patient charming but very professional, until today he showed a more quirky side to me just being silly, but in a good way a bit jokey teasing flirty nothing to make me creeped out just to show a weird sense of humor. At the end of the appointment he even went and got my bag to give to me. I don't know if he has just reached a more comfortable place with me or does like me. I was so full of thoughts I couldn't even make a proper sentence. When I got home I sent an email saying how much I appreciated his work and if he would like to grab a coffee sometime I would like to if it didn't breach any patient Dr ethics allowing him to say no without feeling embarrassed
Last time when I was at my dentist, she was touching the top of my head with her thigh and her boobs were 2cm away from my face. Sure, as a guy I liked it, but I want my doctors to be professional.
Maybe he wants to slip you some Novocain. To be honest, I wouldn't look into it too much, unless he grabs your butt, when you walk by him.
He's not flirting with you, he's just being nice. Dentists are almost always very nice, sociable people.
He hopefully is just being nice...flirting is inappropriate!
