Why are people so selfish nowadays?

I understand that we have to take care of ourselves, put our needs and wants as top priorities, but I've seen that people nowadays are a lot less understanding, less caring, more selfish and a lot more impatient. It makes me feel sad thinking about it, and sometimes it pisses me off. I'm upset with life.

I'm very helpful and people-centered. But, umm, it hurts me when I am not treated equally because I EXPECT. Yes, in general, people are self-centered for their own benefit. It's more healthy to focus on others but more comfortable to have most of the focus on yourself. We are living in a crazy world right now where everybody has his own problems and issues so there's no time for others. I am proud of who I am and how I treat others but sometimes I wish to become more self-centered for my own sanity. ;)

I agree with you. I get caught with this issue sometimes, and today's one of those days. I agree with you that people have no time for others nowadays. different people have different past experiences that affects who they are. But I really wish that people can be a tad bit more caring, understanding and patient. I'm very similar to you, and sometimes when I get told off because people who are close to me don't have the patience to understand my problems, I feel sad :'( I have a lot of patience

Don't be sad & keep up the good heart you have. Don't change for anybody but also don't force others to be like you :) You're an awesome person, I can tell ;)

Thanks. I appreciate that. I will try not to. I know how to keep a balance between caring for myself and caring for others (although I'm more inclined to think for others), but when I really am facing a problem, I feel as though I'm being slagged off and I end up feel upset and unhappy on my own. I know we gotta be tough with life, but sometimes we can't help feeling sad about things as such. I also get upset because how I am can sometimes really bite me back the wrong way.

I completely understand you because this is how I exactly feel. We all have our moments. Sometimes, I cry hard without a reason and some other times I smile all day long. Just be yourself & believe in what you are capable of :)

Thanks a lot for your kind words and help. I haven't heard such words for quite some time. Maybe I've been bottling up a lot of things inside.
