Guys compliments me then looks down at the ground when I thanks him... Why?

I can never tell for sure if he likes me. One day he'll show all these positive signs, the next he'll practically ignore me... so I was surprised when last night, I dressed up a little more then normal, spent a little extra time on my hair and makeup-though it was all still pretty simple. He came over to me and kinda just stood there awkwardly for a second and suddenly told me that I looked nice today. I had been writing and looking down, so out of surprise I looked up when he said that to thank him. When I did, he looked away down at the ground and looked embarrassed... What's going on? Does he maybe like me?

Yes, he likes you! lol. I know a lot of guys who aren't used to flirting with women, including my old self hehe. So when we DO work up the courage to say "you look nice" or "I like your hair", it's very nerve racking. We might be scared of a negative reaction coming from you or not know how to handle the situation. He's kinda like the old me. I didn't take compliments well because I was shy and am not used to it.
