Why do guys (not all) send multiple text messages in a row instead of writing one whole message?

I don't mean like sending multiple messages if the message before it has not been answered. I mean like sending messages at the same time regarding the same topic, when they could all be fit into a paragraph all in one text. I've noticed this in the last two guys I've talked to. Sometimes the texts are split up because each text is like 3 lines along, but many times I feel like 3 different texts send in a row can all be combined, and sometimes each text is really short.. when it could have been combined. For example:

A text message all sent within the same minute:

"Haha wow"
What is it that you want?"
"Now I'm curious"
Even though it could have all been combined into one message. e. g. "Haha wow. What is it that you want? Now I'm curious"

Or something like this:

"Haha good"
"I am looking forward to getting to know you more and spending time with you"
"You are such a cool girl to hang out with"
When can we hang out again?"
I mean.. something like this doesn't really bother me i guess... but it's interesting..

Is this normal? Do you guys break up your texts, and send a girl like 3-5 in a row? I never thought this meant anything, until a friend told me that If a guy sends you multiple messages, your clingy?

I'm 20 by the way
