If a guy (friend) hugs you from behind what's the reason? Can it be totally friendly or is it flirty?

I'd say his intentions behind it would depend on your relationship with him and how long you've known him. If he does other flirty things, then he is definitely interested in you. But if this is the only thing he's done that's flirty and you've known him a while, then he probably cares for you like a little sister

If he does this again, wrap your arms around him and see what he does. If he pushes your arms or pulls away, then he's only in it for friendship. If he hangs on or squeezes you more, then he's interested in you

Either way, this type of hug means the guy cares a lot about you. He wants to make you feel safe and secure when you're with him.
