Love without butterflies?

My boyfriend told me he never felt butterflies for anyone. He said he felt calm and protected around me. Sometimes I can feel that his heart beats fast around me. He is very worried about me when I'm sick.
Can he still be in love with me without butterflies?

Butterflies is the way we use to explain the feeling of love like and crush but not afcurate and not all people feel the word fits the description
Love can't be explained but we try using that word.

I don't understand what "butterflies" are exactly. I can relate to a sense of adrenaline rush when I do something extreme and partly dangerous, e. g., but don't think I've ever had that feeling towards a girl.

Another time when I feel kind of like that is when I'm front of a stage addressing a very large group of people with a spotlight on me. It gives me the jitters but excites me very much. Is it like that sort of feeling?
