Girls, do you like controlling boyfriends or no?

I am a Freshman in college and my gf is a senior in high school back at home. We've been dating for a month and met through a mutual friend.
One of her best friends is a guy that she has known since forever basically. Before me and her even started talking they planned to go to his prom together. They go to different HS. She doesn't really want to go to hers because she goes to a small private school and she went last year so she knows how boring it is.
I am a very nonchalant guy when it comes to my girlfriend hanging out with other guy friends. I honestly don't see a problem with it. I don't get jealous easily. That's just how I am. When her best friend found out that we were dating he got really upset about it and ended up opening up to her saying that he had feelings for her.
Now this does bother me but not enough for me to say that she can't go to prom with him because I know she really does but at the same time I feel as though she wants me to say that she can't sometimes. If I say it does and that I don't want her to go then she will actually not go. For me to say that she can't go just seems like too much power. I see it as too controlling.
After thinking about it and noticing the vibes i get from her I felt as though she thinks idc at all. I found out that she really does think idc. I do care and will tell her when things like that bother me but I just don't want to be a controlling boyfriend. I feel as though she really wants me to say that she can't go though SOMETIMES. Maybe its because she really doesn't and needs a reason not to go? I'm not sure but it feels like that sometimes. It's not obvious.
Like I said i just don't want to be that controlling ass boyfriend. If I tell her no then what she's going to tell her friend and her parents is "I'm not going because my boyfriend doesn't want me to". To me that just sounds so bad. It makes me look bad like I'm a controlling bf. Do you girls like controlling bf's? Should i say no to prom? Ladies?

Some people romanticize controlling/jealous behaviour. They take jealous behaviour to mean "He must really care about me", "He must love me a lot and be afraid to lose me", "He must find me very attractive and worry that other guys will too". And if they're a jealous person themselves, they may take a lack of jealous behaviour to mean "I would be jealous/not want him to do this, but he's not jealous, so he must not really care about me".

But it's actually a pretty immature/unhealthy outlook. I've heard a number of women who were in abusive relationships say that this is the way that they rationalized their abusive partner's behaviour in the beginning.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Don't become a controlling boyfriend. If you want to show her you care, just tell her, "You know, it does make me a little uncomfortable that you're going to prom with "Joe", knowing that he has feelings for you, but I trust you completely and I want you to have a good time." If you suspect that she doesn't really want to go, then outright ask her, "I get the sense that you don't really want to go to prom, do you?" and see what she says. If she says she doesn't want to go, then encourage her to be honest with her friend, or make up an excuse that doesn't involve making you into the bad guy, as that's not fair to you.

It sounds like she wants to see you're a bit jealous. Girls are like that sometimes. Just tell her that it makes you a bit uncomfortable because the dude has feelings for her, but that you trust her and are happy for her to go.

I think you should at least tell her that it makes you uncomfortable, but as long as the decision is up to her... I hate controlling guys, but You can still let your feelings be known.
