When I got my first one, I did a bunch of research too. And the best advice was, if u ask 10 tattoo artists what the best way to care for one is, you'll get 10 different answers. So it's best to just listen to the artist you're going with. I would advise not drinking before or after. While u probably won't bleed, you'll lose plasma. A clear but thick like soap kinda substance from your skin. Drinking will dilute it and make it easier to bleed. I had two beers and got light headed several hours later. Oh and sleeping will be a bitch lol. U might wanna get a pair of really thin leggings to wear to bed. At night you'll sweat and u don't want your tat getting stuck to the sheets and staining them

Seems like you have done what should've been done prior to committing to getting one. Not much else to do except get the idea sketched and go from there.
In terms of preparing before the tattoo, there's not much you really have to do other than not drink. It's perfectly fine to drink after. The biggest thing during is to NOT hold your breath (which can be hard) and to take even, deep breaths. Then after, make sure no clothes rub up against it and use lotion on it every 6 hours. Tattoos are soo great and addicting- if it were up to me, I would have my whole body tattooed!
You can drink the night before, and after getting a tattoo, you just can't be intoxicated whilst getting it.
Bepanthen is great for after care. Remember to keep it out of sun light, don't pick and all that other junk.
