Why do I do this? Is it dangerous?

Right I eat fairly healthy most days. I'm a healthy weight bmi <25. I like to run and go the gym.

That's not the problem the problem is that every few days or a week or so I eat enough food for 3. Usually in one meal. Such as tonight which triggered the question.

Tonight I ate:
Popcorn chicken
1/4lb burger
Chips
10" garlic bread
Chocolate gato

Now don't get me wrong I'm aware that's too much food but I can't help it I get an overwhelming urge and then I eat until I feel sick and sleep it off.

Why am I doing this? And is this potentially dangerous?
