And tell me why you picked deafness or blindness over the other.
Also would your opinion change if instead of losing a sense, you were born either deaf of blind?
First of all, let's consider that we can't restore it if we lost it because it would make the question meaningless.
Disadvantages of inaudibility :-
☻I'd not communicate properly
☻I'd not respond when being called
☻I'd not be able to listen to music
☻I'd not use telephone (to answer)
☻I'd not perceive an incoming threat coming from behind
☻I'd not get alert while someone is walking in my room while I'm sleeping
☻I'd not get some warnings from speaker
Disadvantages of blindness :-
☻I'd not see people and what they are doing
☻I'd not easily remember new people (depends upon practice)
☻I'd not see new things like landscapes
☻I'd not use new gadgets easily (would be harder or impossible to use them)
☻I'd not use some things like PC, TV at all (for gaming or stuff)
☻I'd not drive (I'd cheat in inaudibility)
☻I'd not tell if the person standing in front of me has weapon
☻I'd not tell if there is a terrorist/threat in close range
☻I'd not read new things. That'd destroy my career.
☻I'd not use gym properly
☻I'd not tell the authenticity of the food or any other suspicious things
There must be more disadvantages.
I'd choose to lose hearing. Losing sight has much more disadvantages and lots of them are fatal. Even tho blind people develop a sixth sense and could tell others' presence but that takes a hell lot of time and it'd take all of my youth, while I'll get used to inaudibility much earlier. And deaf people develop that sixth sense too, but they are not as reliable on that as blind people are. Being deaf may be despondent, but being blind could be catastrophic.
I may be part of the minority on this, but I'd definitely rather lose my sight than hearing. Music is a huge part of my life, and I want to continue learning it while creating new material. However, losing my hearing would be a major setback if not a complete stop.
I'm no Beethoven. I need my ears, hence why I am paranoid about hearing sometimes. I wear ear plugs at concerts, I don't listen to music loud in cars, and I generally try to go for the lowest volume I can in things and let my ears adjust to it. I'm not uptight about it, but I do care lol. Hearing is probably my most prized sense tbh.
Luckily, I've already learned some instruments and have the muscle memory/acclamation for them, so it wouldn't be too difficult to continue playing them. Once you play an instrument enough (or at least drums/guitar/keyboard), you can play it with your eyes closed anyway.
Being blind would suck, but being deaf would be heartbreaking.
My hearing is absolute shit so I kinda stopped caring
@FallOutBoy2001 I guess I haven't gotten to that point yet so I am attempting to preserve what I can 😅
If I was in your position I would do the same
As much as I LOVE music and hearing the rain fall down against a window pane, not having the ability to see, I feel is more of a disadvantage in this world, than not being able to hear. Generally speaking if you walk across the room, no one knows you can't hear, but if you're blind and need a cane to walk, it becomes rather obvious.. and sad to say we live in such a cruel world where people would try to take advantage of you or take your cane or try and trip you because they suck.
I've taken a couple of sign language courses in my life and I rather like the language so I'm more primed to survive that life than I would one, not seeing. Plus one huge advantage as described to me by a deaf friend is that when people are making fun of you or being cruel, you don't hear any of it. When things are boring around you, you automatically have the ability to just tune it out because you can't understand a lot of it anyway. I was like, well, I never thought about it that way.
I think I'd rather lose hearing and keep sight. That way I can still see facial expressions which are huge in communication and I could see landscapes and my children in the future. Plus, I have a hard time concentrating when there's noise in the room so this would eliminate that problem at least. 😆

It's hard to choose, both are tragic but I would prefer to be deaf than blind. I love music very much and this would be really sad but sight is more valuable for me in general and I love drawing, photography, admiring beauty, nature...
I use graphite / colour pencils and fine liners

Hearing , because my life would be so much more inhibited if i lost my sight.
I could still be independent if i lost my hearing , but living in a world of darkness would cause me to lose too much of my own independence
Neither really but since I grew up with a blind parent, I think I would rather loose hearing, more advances in hearing plus sign language not that hard, braille sucks, and I want to see the beauty around me
Hearing.
I am Tired of "Hearing" all of the Bad to Come, hun, but I do Need to "See"... What I Would have to do in Case I Need to Run, hun.
God luck and Great question. xx
hearing, I won't have to hear ignorant people anymore. But then again I would still be able to see them on the internet... ugh... I pick both, take them away.
I'd prefer to go deaf, because we've been able to restore hearing and TBH my hearing is pretty shitty now.
Just carry around a notepad and use writing to communicate. Losing sight is much worse.
I would rather be born blind than born deaf though, since if you're born deaf you can have problems learning.
I would hate to lose either but if I had to choose it would be easier to get through life deaf then blind.
lose hearing, it would be a blessing depending on the people you are with.
I'd rather die
If I loose vision I will not be able to draw or become an architect while if I loose hearing I can't listen to the voice of people I love and music that has been my best friend until these days
Fuck this really, I can't decide because I love drawing since my childhood and music is my life. I can't leave without both. ;(
We've made more progress in restoring hearing than sight as of now, so hearing
I think people are way more visual than aural that is why the perception that being blind would be worse seems to be borne out in poll.
For just one day? Hmm, sight. I'd just lay in bed and LISTEN to amazing music.
I always feel like I'm gonna jinx myself when answering these :|
That'll be when we've already lived a life. nothing to lose then :p
I don't think I would be able to cope with either. :(
I love visual art and music and losing any of that would just be dgainogdiua gDVBKJLBfkawglu;dbhqwugbuIL :'(
I would choose to lose hearing so I could still see to find my gun for suicide. I wouldn't want to live without either of those senses.
I know, and I don't understand how they can handle it. Being blind, deaf, or paralyzed all seem worse than death to me. I prayed to God to make sure I would die before suffering any of those things. I can't handle it. Seeing people with those conditions makes me more thankful that I am healthy.
I have poor hearing (can't differentiate background noise from active noise which is a massive problem and I just in general can't hear super well) and my depression has nothing to do with that. I've developed work arounds
Deaf or i wpnt get to see ma Muslim babez no more 😭😭😭
Hearing because I already know sign language!
