Starting a new diet, and looking to buy a piece of exercise equipment - what's best?

So I've been looking around and I can't decide what is the best. In the past I've used a treadmill, and I get completely burnt out on it quick. I never really noticed any differences from it, but I may not used it enough to really do much effectiveness.

What do you think is better? A spinning machine (stationary bike) or the rowing machine? Are either of these very effective? If not, which is best for an all over body workout? My legs aren't very big, but my stomach is getting out of shape, and that's what I'm wanting to focus more on.. my upper half.
