It's rude but you should just ignore her. Let her know that it doesn't bother you when she says that. Why? Because you know that you're not a twig. Or try thinking of a joke that can turn it around. I have gray hair in front while the rest is brown. A few people in high school made fun of me, but I turned it into a joke by saying that I'm just getting old. And laughed a little. They stopped making fun of me because they could see that it didn't bother me. So, try coming up with a way to turn it around or just ignore her.

If you're not OK with it, and she doesn't know this, it's not necessarily rude but you should politely ask her to stop.

In general people feel more free to comment on you're body when you're thin.
Some remarks can be rather rude but there's no use getting offended over silly stuff like that, in my opinion. As long as you're secure with your body crap like that doesn't hold any weight.

yes its rude, its a form of body shaming slim girls like calling them boney, only dogs want bones, skinny women aren't real, eat a burger, skinny women are anorexic, twig/stick thin etc. she wouldn't like it if you called her a name implying she's fat so why should you have to take it from her? its really annoying how people have to put down others to bring themselves up and their sole excuse when called on it is: well xxx people have been called xxx for years so that gives me the right to bully another group who are the opposite of xxx even if people in that group have never name called. we dont accept that excuse from a bully who got bullied once, they still dont have the right to bully others because of it so whats so special here?

“Twig” is a negative way to call someone thin. It’s basically calling you scrawny or too thin. Just because someone doesn’t like being called that doesn’t mean they’d rather be called fat or be fat. I’d rather be called fit, curvy, or slim in a positive way.
