Honestly, that's a lot to spend on an engagement ring. It's great if you have that kind of money to burn on a piece of jewellery, but I wouldn't want to wear that ring every day. I'm sure most women feel the same way. And some women just aren't into flashy jewellery at all. Try to find out what your girlfriend likes in terms of jewellery and ring styles.
I think that kind of money is better spent elsewhere but that's just my opinion. A ring budget of $2-3K is very reasonable and there's a lot of nice stuff for that price. Check Blue Nile, my engagement ring is from them and I love it.

i loveeee that, but if she likes it simpler then the standard diamonds round the side is lovely too.
for something a tad more extravagant:

My favorite style of ring is a round cut halo, but the ring isn't for me. If you want good opinions, we can't really help you because we don't know your girlfriend. Secretly ask her best friends or her sisters if she has any. I would guarantee they know exactly what kind of ring she likes.
are you wanting her to sink in the ocean lol... not all of us want or need huge rocks
www.zales.com/.../product.jsp?productId=11988134 what about something like this?
Does it have to be a real diamond? Why not get an amazing cubic zirconia ring for $1,000?
I mean it'll be a fucking huge rock that will look amazing in every way... but it won't be a diamond.
And save the rest of the money for bills/travel/fun? Rings don't really have value other than to resell.
ignoring the fact this is an eBay link I've always liked how Tungsten as a metal looks.

Honestly I wouldn't go past 2000. That's steep as well. If she is a honest and decent gal who truly loves you then she wouldn't want you to spend that kind of money on an engagement ring. It's an inanimate object that is an emblem of love not wealth. Buy something unique to her. Find the ring that has you whispering "this is it" the same way you whispered "she's the one." Besides there is always the possibility that it may get misplaced... so make it (for lack of a better word) replaceable. Engrave something in it. A 20K budget is ridiculous and unnecessary. Be wise about it.
I don't know how much this ring is. I saw it on fb. I think it's awesome. Not if it's over 2K though.
www.vancaro.com/.../fenbaizuan001-0.jpgThat seems like an insane amount of money for a ring! Spend 5,000 and put the rest into a house... that would be sexy ;)
Save some money and tattoo the word "sucker" across your face.
I'm a fan of marquis cut diamonds, but you'll have to be the judge, as you know her better. I wouldn't spend that much. I'd spend the rest on a kick-ass honeymoon or a down payment on a house, etc.
Geez for 20,000$ it better be some rock and 20,000$ for a engagement ring is a pretty nice budget dude you'll be able to find a good ring for that price.
Many women like princess cut diamonds. But with a budget like that I'm pretty sure she'll love anything you get her
Hey, I have some student loans and a car payment that needs to be paid, if you wanna loan me about $10k ;p
*Cough* *Cough*

Don't spend that much on the ring... save that money for the honeymoon.
