Persians are come from one of the oldest social groups found in the middle east and on earth. It is believed that the Hebrews are from a combination of the Persian social group and another social group found in the middle east; most probably from the original Egyptian social group. Many biblical figures had a mix that included the Persian ethnicity. Persians are not, or do not consider themselves "Arabs". Being called "Arab" is an insult.
There is a lot of pride in the Persian personality. They are a very exclusive society, in other words it is difficult for an outsider to be considered an insider. The Greek social group is also much so as well. In fact most social groups exhibited some form of exclusion to outsiders. It is not every social group that believes in "Mi casa es tu casa." There has to be a strong nature and nurture for that type of allowance of "inclusion." In other words that social group has a "High self esteem." Whether is is a "real" or an "imaginary" basis for that high self esteem is not for me to say for another social group. Exclusion tendency in a social group occurs if there is a historical aspect of being challenged or attacked. For instance, I've heard that families of Persian Jews ancestry reject even their own, when there is insistence in inter-social group marriage. This is a survival mechanism to preserve a social group/culture.
The best way to socialize with the intent of familiarity is to engage is society social events where one is able to celebrate the difference in others. The truth of the matter is that you need to celebrate who you are and become the best in both finances and social security. One way of being allowed (in a "somewhat" superficial way) to be part of or included in a social group is when you have something to offer.)
Basically Persians are clannish and entrepreneurs (merchants) therefore it's all about money. If you have money you are "a customer." Able customers are made good friends to merchants. Developing long lasting friendships with individuals out side of our own social group takes time, because "trust" in some social group is not given "as a matter of fact". Americans are more open to trust and to let in, because of the nature of the development of the one society which is found in the north continent. It is not made up of one ancient people like most countries; yet made up of people that come from all four corners, and the in between cracks that develop among social groups. Cracks in a social group leads individuals to wander off into other social groups and integrate with other social groups thereby creating new social group. Basically these newly develop social groups, in modern time, become sub-groups (with its unique characteristics) within a society. Society is basically establish when a sub-group takes over a portion of land and establish governance over the portion of land covered by a perimeter. Here you have is a quick lesson in sociology
