What does it mean when an ex unblocks you on instagram?

I initiated the break up with my ex of 5 months. He surprisingly agreed with my decision and he told me he was having doubts about our relationship. He then told me not to worry since he won’t be heartbroken. After that he blocked me on Instagram immediately but just 2 months ago I noticed that he unblocked me. We’ve been doing no contact ever since the break up so I’m wondering what this means? He never initiated contact after our break up and so have I.

It means he was curious what you were up to and and wanted to look at your profile. As for his reasons for being curious... He could be hoping you're miserable, he could genuinely want to see that you're happy, he could be wanting to get back together with you. Or it could just mean he unlocked a lot of people and didn't care about you being blocked anymore or didn't notice he unlocked you

He was heartbroken, but lied so that you would not feel bad about it at a later stage, the he blocked you so as to be able to get over you, and now he is over you.

I had a girlfriend at one time who felt bad about hurting people, even just a tiny bit (like taking the last slice of pizza) and she would always put others before herself no matter what, so when she said that she did not love me anymore. I basically just said that I kinda had felt like that for a little while, and how it was the right thing for us. She was so relieved that I would likely do the same again put in a similar situation:)

Sometimes when people break up while we may not always admit it, we subconsciously want them to miss us and dread the relationship being over so maybe he could also be doing that. Who knows

Some people take time to recover from a relationship. He said he is not heartbroken but in fact he is. So he blocked your Instagram. After a while he might have cooled off and having thought things through he had unblocked your Instagram.
