Why did my ex boyfriend suddenly deactivate all his social media?
We broke up in good terms 2 weeks ago
We decided we werent compatible
But we decided to not remove each other on social media
He was very active on fb and instagram
He post a lot of pictures and stuff like that
But he told me few days ago that he's going to deactivate all his social media for a while coz he doesn't need it
And he actually did
Why?
I know he didn't block me coz my friends follow him and can't see his profiles
Is this weird?

Sometimes the most mature and logical of breakups can be the hardest of all. It's hard to just go on with life and see each other move on, especially if you love one a lot.

I deleted all my social media 2 months ago after my breakup. I can't put why but I realized I just didn't need it. I didn't want people to know how I was feeling, where I was or how was I doing. I just wanted to hide and after a few weeks, you get used to it.

I think because social media is "life", not having it means that I can just stop time awhile, move on and be myself without finding out anything that might hurt me or make me sad (ex being happy etc). Once I move on and am okay, I may start using again.

Because after break up, i have post a lot of pictures of myself and videos of what im doing and he watches all my instagram stories and liking my pictures

Different guys have different ways of handling post break ups. Just seeing an ex you still love, just living life, whether just eating lunch or staying home, is hard to see. Especially if you guys used to do all those things together. I guess "out of sight, out of mind" applies. I do it, to move on and focus on me.

Could this be the same for depressed people? I have an ex who is depressed and we stopped speaking to each other and she deactivates her account and comes back later on, I'm always tempted to ask how she's doing but I'm scared to because I do it so many times I feel like I bother her

@ShesAmerican I personally don't know about that. I've been in post breakup depression but I don't think it's the same as regular depression because eventually it'll pass. But I guess in some ways I can relate to, wanting to disappear from the world with regular depression.

Sounds like he just blocked you and any common friends of yours. But if he truly deleted his stuff, then it means he probably broke it off with you and your having a hard time letting go and maybe have tried to reach out to him a few times.

First, his social media is not your concern. I know you guys are probably doing the "Let's be friends" bit. But what he does with his social media stopped being your territory once you broke up.

Second, it is not unhealthy to unplug from social media. Let him explore this and just check up on him ONCE IN A WHILE.

Social media can have a lot of influence on someone. I deactivated mine a while ago to prevent myself from posting things that would have been embarrassing after, or from taking a break from letting the world in on my life. I was stressed, depressed and hurt and just wanted to be left alone.

1st off you broke up - STOP STALKING him. What he does is HIS business, it STOPPED being yours 2 weeks ago. It is UNHEALTHY & makes other people VERY uncomfortable

2nd people take down their social media all the time.
Not everyone needs to desperately prove to the world they did this or that. He may have turned it off because he got TIRED of you stalking him.

3rd you honestly don't know if he turned it off. He may have gotten tired of you / your friends and blocked all. I know I would've with a bothersome stalking ex like you.

1.) Assuming he's not suicidal It's no longer your concern.

2.) If you feel he's not being honest with his reasoning, you snooping like this won't get him to trust you anymore.

3.) Sometimes, It's easier to heal and process emotions when you're not being constantly reminded of them from outside forces.

Leave him be, if you're the source of this, he'll reach out to YOU. If you're not, let him do his thing without interruption.

Darling, believe it or not, there's life outside of social media.
I once deactivated my Facebook account for a year or two. It was irritating and pointless. But i made 2 particular new friends who didn't wanna text, but facebook message, so i was pulled back into it. Otherwise i really dont need it cause everyone i know texts too.
I know many people who have deactivated their social media accounts for a period of time.

Not reaally. When i go through breakups, I dont wanna see people I dont have good connections to. It's the point in life when you realise you shouldn't have to see people show off about their lives, when they are no longer, or never were, important to you. He wants a break from people who aren't necessary to his life. No need for reminders of you either.
