What warrents a break up?

Been with my girlfriend for over 3 years but the quarantine situation at the minute is making me think we may not actually have that much in common and we are just falling out with eachother more and more over silly things.

I also think we may have different plans in terms of our futures but only in terms of what we want to do with our lives

Maybe you could ask someone to be like a mediator and allow you both to get out whatever you need to say to one another without attacking part way through? Or speak to a therapist (if it's not too expensive where you are; in Aus we have some covered by our Medicare system)?

But also think of it like this: initially we're usually drawn to physical attributes of a person before we get to know their personality, likes, dislikes, and so on. So I think when it comes to being thrust into a situation like this that a lot of relationships are struggling either because of distance, or partners are now having to "put up" with each other for extended periods of time, or we find out habits that others have that start to really grate on us. That's all normal and as long as you keep communication lines open you can work through these things and compromise where necessary. It's in situations where one person is doing all the compromising and the other is doing nothing to even see their point of view where you start having some more serious issues and need to seek outside help from a mediator or psychologist if you still want to be in the relationship.

If you're not happy, then something is wrong, and it seems you talked about it.
Quarantine is very stressful, and maybe that's the real problem.
Wanting to do different things in life isn't a big deal if you're both willing to work together, but if you can't, then it's time to move on.
