Most men don't want to be the leaders and providers, that's the expectation women place on men due to their unending longing for having a superior mate.
Most men simply want to be valued, loved and respected by their women at least as much as they value, love and respect them back.
Sadly, only a few men get to have that, the rest is presented with women's progressively ramping up expectations to remain interesting, exciting, strong, confident and so on.
Which they often fail because they just can't keep up with the pressure to live up to a standard which has no end, and that's how they end up discarded.
Women are never satisfied with a satisfied man.
The more disagreeable he is with her, the more it challenges her to step up her game.
When the challenge is gone, SO IS SHE

Um, because the courts reward them financially for doing so. Duh
