Was getting divorced the best thing to ever happen to you?

After 20yrs of marriage I got divorced. I wanted to try saving the marriage but once it was done I realize it was the best thing to ever happen. I look back now and can’t believe I didn’t see all the things that were wrong with our relationship. My advice to anyone is if your spouse or partner is not making you as much of a priority in life as you do them splitting up maybe the best thing to ever happen.

No, it isn't. It was very hard on me but staying in am emotionally, mentally and physically abusive situation was harder. Whether I am better off... time will tell. I know that I am making progress in really important areas that had been long neglected for many years. It was freeing though.

I am glad you are making progress. My situation was pretty much the same as yours except the physical abuse. My ex-wife was narcissistic and manipulative. She cheated several times and always made it to be my fault. She lied and hoarded money in order to get what she wanted as soon as the divorce was finished. It’s funny that now I only work one job my house payment is triple what I was paying and my bills are paid with money left over but while married I worked several jobs bills were stacking up and I had a $25 a week spending money and my gas to get to work had to come from that. I now have a nice house and a girlfriend that treats me just as good as I do her. Never been happier than I am now
