My ex keeps contacting me?

It’s been 2ish months since me and my ex broke up. I made a mistake and thought it would be cool to keep and touch and be friends. That resulted in making it hard for me to move on and have intense feelings for him. I ended up texting him that we should distance ourselves because to my mistake it was WAYY to early to be friends. He agreed and we stopped there. A week into us not talking he hits me up asking how I was and if he could borrow some money until Saturday. (It wasn’t much). I ended up saying no. I just don’t understand why he didn’t respect my wishes of us not talking. Should I discuss this with him to just keep it moving?

Probably because he feels like no matter what you’re going to respond, and so far he is right, especially if you’ve done this sort of thing in the past. What you have to do is stop responding, even to his light chats or asking to borrow money. It’s not about being mean or any of that, it’s about giving yourself the space to heal and not being that person who says one thing and does another. He may even try and trick you into talking to him by adding urgency to his need to talk or even trying to start an argument (I had an ex who would do that one), but stand firm in your word. He will get it eventually.
