Long story short, I've been with this man for a year. Have found out before that he was talking to other women, but I forgave him. Yet, my trust is broken. Lately he has stopped calling me pet names, we're spending less time together, he has stopped texting me goodnight and says hurtful things to make me jealous (even though he apologized for that). I've tried leaving him, but he comes back and doesn't seem like he wants to break up. He's been kinda busy and stressed with work, and that's his excuse. My gut feeling tells me that something feels off anyway.

First:

No relationship will work long term off the trust is gone.

You need to either work with him on rebuilding the trust, or end the relationship.

Which leads to:

He can only come back if "you" let him. If you really want to end it, then you have to be firm and refuse contact if he won't take no for an answer. Some people can end things amicably, some cannot.

And lastly:

Being busy or stressed is no excuse for that. Just remember, people will treat us the way we allow them to. You have to set the tone of what you will and will not put up with/ tolerate.
