Why would he tell everyone he liked me but made no move?

There was this guy that I was seeing a while ago... or more going on dates and getting to know. I broke it off because it was being inconsistent and felt like he wasn't as interested in me...

But i just recently found out from all my friends and coworkers that he was telling everyone he liked me a lot... around the time he was making no moves... and since then I thought we could be civil and normal with each other at work, but now he's been super avoidant and won't acknowledge me. Kinda treats me like nothing ever happened.

Is that normal behavior? What gives? Is this one of those things where he maybe did like me a lot but was just too immature to handle it? And why would he avoid me like that? Just want things to be peaceful between us.

With very limited information to go on, I would guess that he's inexperienced and lacks confidence, and so he was even more reliant than the average guy on needing some positive signs of interest from you before he made a move and either humiliated himself by being rejected or even ended up with an HR complaint.

Lots of "average" guys, as opposed to the good-looking player types with lots of experience, are terrified of misinterpreting "interest" and being "canceled," and so they need to see clear signs of interest from the girl before the make a move. This has always been an issue for shy or inexperienced guys, but in the MeToo era, it's gotten much worse.

And many women are far too subtle in showing their interest, not realizing that men generally don't speak in or recognize subtext or sublety - we're used to much more direct communication.

It's a common way that men and women miscommunicate with each other, and unfortunately, both sides often end up poorer for it.

Just ignore him and move on, If treats you like this now, he going to treat you like this in a relationship The red flags are right in front of you, and you are ignoring them. This why you girls get hurt.

What gives? move on and ignore him, he is simply not worth your time, and playing stupid games with you.

If a girl treated me like this, even though she liked me, I wouldn't care, I still would just move and ignore you, she proven to me, she not capable of being mature in a relationship.
