How should I respond to a dumper who wished me a happy birthday?

You don't. Why waste your time even acknowledging someone that dumped you or didn't want to be with you? At least that's my perspective...

But if you really want to be that courteous, just say, "Thank you," and leave it at that. And DO NOT overanalyze or read too much into why they said that- they probably wished you happy birthday to be polite or because they remembered it was your birthday. Don't assume they want to date you or regret dumping you.

The most logical in my opinion is to not respond at all. The dumper dumped, ergo has no hold on any part of you.

That lacking, and your politeness forces a response, a simple "Thank you" with not much expression and only shallow feeling would suffice. I'd suggest immediately leaving the dumper's vicinity and find better conversation with people who appreciate who you are.

Under no circumstance would I allow the interaction to go further. One who dumps will do so again, even more quickly, and with less provocation.

Bottom line: any interaction with a dumper is a waste of your time.
