Boyfriend of 1.5 years wanted to break up because I said I feel we live separate lives and wanted to see more of him. What could this mean on his end?

I would see him 2 hrs a week (we aren’t long distance) and texting was on a timed schedule and only once a day. He also barely invited me over to his house. He is a busy person but I asked for more time investment on his day off and that also didn’t seem like an option.
