How do guys move on so fast after a break up?

I broke up with my boyfriend in Oct. He was my first relationship and it was a sad breakup. I don't miss him nor want him back, I'm just in the process of getting emotionally detached from him.

We were together for less than a month but he moves really fast and it was an intense time. He said he loved me and that he had everything he wanted in a relationship with me. by the way we're both 20 years old. He's been in relationships before, one which lasted for 1.5 years when he was 17.

On Christmas I saw pictures on his Facebook of him and a girl, turns out it's his new girlfriend and they look smitten. I'm not angry at him, I'm just confused as to how he can so easily move on emotionally, I don't even want to be with him yet can't imagine being in another relationship right now. Guys how do you do it?! Does a new girl TRULY help you get over the last one? by the way I don't think this girl is a rebound because otherwise he would've gotten with her a week or so after we broke up.

I wouldn't worry about it. Try not to divulge on what your ex is doing, or feeling that he should be MORE emotional about the breakup. It takes me a long time to really move on from a breakup, and I've known people who find someone in weeks, if not sooner, after a breakup. Point is, who cares how fast someone moves on? Worry about yourself. The more you look at your ex's behavior, the harder it is for yourself to move on.

This is not a guy thing.

My ex and I broke up after a four year relationship. Her words: "I'm not going to be involved with guys, I have to go invest in myself for a while." Three months later she had a new guy.

Truth is, I might have done the same thing if I met soneone that fast, but still it hurt.

Best thing after a break up is to not look back, it will only hurt you.

When people are rejected many go into "get over your ex" mode and move on.

Besides its been a few months...hes not rolling around in his tissues and crying all day

It's a skill that most guys have without even trying to develop it.

A new girl really does help you get over the last one, and it doesn't always have to be a meaningless rebound fling either.

It's not that easy to move on for every guy, for me is so hard to move on but it's not that hard to have a girlfriend while loving another girl.
