Reconnected amid cheating divorces with an old friend, started dating (3 months) and even planned a future. Didn’t sleep together until after 2.5 months. He chose his wife, calling me "right one, wrong time." If she cheats again (her affair was secret and she left when caught and returned coz she got dumped), might he return or was I just a rebound to fill some time? If so, why bother calling me the “right one” at dumping stage?

He was probably looking for something better.. but to be honest it is always easiest to stay with a wife or husband.. then to try something new.. So he probably did really like you just he couldn't be bothered with actually going through a divorce.. Thing is never wait for someone.. he clearly chose his wife over you.. so my suggestion is move on, be someones first pick not their second.
