Me and my ex broke up 3 months ago, ended on bad terms (he cheated), and were in no contact since then. During the holidays, I stayed at my sister’s house out of town for 2 weeks.
When I returned to my own apartment, I saw at the front door that my ex left the book that I asked for before we broke up (which was 3 months ago). I’m so confused why he did that?
He should have given it to me earlier lol!! I texted him thanks after that, and he said that he noticed I wasn’t in the apartment so he just left the book at the front door. He greeted me a happy new year, asked me how I’ve been, and if we could catch up if I’m willing to. We talked for a bit then he didn’t text again.
Now, I feel like all the efforts I’ve done to move on from him is gone and I’m back to zero again . I blocked his # now tho.
Guys, why would he do that? Is he just messing with my feelings?

Woah, that is super weird and confusing that your ex would randomly show up like that after 3 months of no contact. I can understand why it would get your head all messed up again.
A few things that stand out to me - first, it's sketchy that it took him 3 months to return the book you asked for before you broke up. Seems like more of an excuse to see you again than actually returning something important.
Second, it's a red flag that he hit you up asking to catch up after not talking for so long. Like why now? Seems like he just wanted to hook you back in and see if you'd take him back.
Plus, he cheated on you originally right? So it's not like you guys can trust each other again. Even if he says he's changed, people don't usually change that fast.
I'd say you made the right call blocking him. Don't let him toy with your emotions again, you deserve way better than that. Focus on staying no contact and continuing to heal and move on from him for good this time. You've got this!
He's testing the waters. Seeing how much he can get away with. Let him be. You should of given it more time.
