We agreed that we won’t be getting back together recently and it’s been months since the actual breakup, and he could easily just move on and not speak to me but he comes up to me very often to speak, gives me compliments and bring up inside jokes, etc. His tone sounds like he’s being friendly but why would you do this with an ex? Wouldn’t you rather have as minimal contact as possible and just speak when absolutely necessary?

I think he is probably just trying to show that he is comfortable with the situation , and trying to show you some form of support.
That’s what I thought as well until today I had two missed calls from a guy who I had recently started to speak to and as soon as my phone lit up he was looking down at my screen and then seemed to start approaching me even more after seeing that and just bringing up really unnecessary things. It just doesn’t make sense. It seems like there are still feelings involved that he won’t admit to.
