How long to heal from a relationship?

How long does it take to heal from a bad breakup? We’re in an open relationship and he was seeing her for a year, she had all her firsts with him and I guess that was a big deal for him, she seemed to be madly in love with him in the beginning and I was so happy for them and she was my friend too. But suddenly she did a 180 switch and decided to break up with no other reason then that she’s “bipolar and has split personality disorder”. She suddenly became super cold and just ghosted him. 👻 She just says she don’t like him anymore. No reasons other then mental illness. Says that’s it, nothing we can do. I’m just not feeling it Bye bye. 😘 like she didn’t care at all anymore she became a different, uncaring person. My boyfriend is having such a hard time with her switch from loving to … nothing. He is so depressed and feels betrayed. I’ve caught him crying lots, and sometimes saying he feels like dying from this grief. Yesterday he came to me and said he’s scared in his own mind. I feel he has a habit of overly attaching to people - allowing himself to get REALLY hurt. So I am always with him, but what can I do to comfort him? How long does it take to heal after a bad breakup?
