Why Does My Ex Copy Me?

He copies quite a few things:

-my style of photographs

-photos of similar faces I make

-apps I download

-same use of apps (i.e. I stop using then he stops, or if I start he starts)

-my hair color

-phrases in his statuses

-other random things

Sounds pretty dumb, I know. But he totally likes someone else so I dislike accidentally noticing such patterns.

If anyone has experience as to why this happens, feel free to reply. Thanks.

Wow that is OBNOXIOUS how about you jokingly call him out on it but get your point across for sure. But I guess it's flattering but that would annoy the hell out of me it's like my biggest pet peeve I don't know how you stand it.

We don't talk. Kinda hard to call him out on it. I mean, he tries to talk to me once in a blue moon but I just ignore him.

He is actually pretty fun and fairly witty. He is finding his way in life just like I am. I don't have all the answers. I have NO answers, in fact.

true, but there's a difference between creating something of your own from inspiration and trying to imitate your inspiration

Someone smart once said "Imitation is the sincerest form of pissing me off" or in other words imitation is not flattering, it's you taking credit for someone else's creativity because you lacked some of your own. No matter whether it's you or your boyfriend. Don't try to say you're just being inspired if you are imitating someone's awesomeness as if it's your original idea.

Well, all artists are always inspired by someone else. Hardly anything is original these days. Plaigarism is a different thing. Ever heard of the band Brand New? They imitate the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Jesus And Mary Chain all the time. That's just one of millions of examples, of course. Many other bands are inspired by or try to imitate the Beatles and Elvis.

Okay, but if you copy someone the exact way someone does it then that means you are not creative enough to make it into something of your own. Because if you were, you would have instead of imitating an exact inspiration.
