@dragonfly6516 It really doesn't work that way for the most part, though. Why is it, then, that the most intelligent guys are always the least successful with girls?
Because most girls have been taught if they do not date the football star, that they won't go far/be happy in life. TV, movies, and society only romance the alpha type men, and I personally don't prefer such men.
However, even though of the two of us I make more money as an art museum docent and city tour-guide, I am a naturally submissive woman, and I prefer men who are naturally dominant. He's a fast-food manager, and the bassist in a metal band, but I still submit to him as head of household, and he manages our finances.
He's a deeply philosophical and intellectual person who has opened my mind to many things I never even took notice of before. He's passionate about his beliefs and views, and also artistic. He is "beautiful" physically in my eyes, but he's also made several changes to his look over the past two years, some of which would have once been a total turn off when I used to judge based on looks.
@dragonfly6516 The term "alpha men" is a very demeaning term, because it carries the implication that any man who doesn't act within a narrow set of rules is lesser, i. e. 'a beta male.' Imagine men labeling women by their attractiveness, with alpha women the most attractive and beta women the average Janes. I doubt that'd go over well with y'all. But somehow it's okay to assign such petty labels to men. Sigh...
I get that you've changed your attitude and now prefer intelligent men, but in doing so, you've really proven my point. Intelligent men are *not* preferred by women at all. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that most women are actually put off by intelligent men. The only intelligence women seem to value in men is the type of cunning that helps me acquire resources. That's why criminals do so well with women, because at the end of the day, women respect the man with money regardless how he got it. That's why ghetto culture lionizes drug dealers and rappers.
@dragonfly6516 ... intelligent guys is that we go through so much of our youths as also-rans with girls. By the time we get to the age at which womens' tastes change in our favor, most intelligent guys have had it drilled in their heads that they're undesirable. So they end up without the experience or confidence to take advantage of their new opportunities.
Digression aside, I don't think intelligence is really a value trait in either gender. Intelligence in women is just as meaningless on the dating market. They matter more as we age, but that doesn't do younger guys much good.
One, I hate the term "alpha", as it poses an unrealistic standard of what a "man" should be. Again, as I stated, this is media, training woman to want and crave this.
Two, I make double what my fast-food worker boyfriend brings home. I am with him because he is deep, and intelligent.
He did grow up in the "ghetto", and he did embody that "thug life" in his younger days, when he was still about your age, then he realized that rap music wasn't the way to get his message to the world, because of the stereotypes surrounding such music. He shifted gears to his other favorite genre, metal music. After re-branding himself, he now has over 5000 faithful followers on social media, and these people have helped him take down several animal and child abusers, through the internet. And that's why I don't care if I'm the one bringing in the money, because he's doing great things with his time between flipping burgers.
My tastes haven't changed at all. I have always preferred intelligent men. But for a long time, I always the opinions of others to control me, and was pressured by society to shun "ugly" men, and I often judged men on looks alone before actually getting to know them.

Great take. If only women valued smart men...
We do.
I don't speak for all women, but I personally cannot find a man physically attractive, if I do not first find him intellectually attractive.

Intelligent men matter, and are VERY sexy.
My tastes haven't changed at all. I have always preferred intelligent men. But for a long time, I always the opinions of others to control me, and was pressured by society to shun "ugly" men, and I often judged men on looks alone before actually getting to know them.
@dragonfly6516 Well, it's great that you appreciate such men and have found a match. Hopefully we'll all be so lucky.
@dragonfly6516 The " media " is just deliberately divisive BS !! People really need to think for themselves !!
@FatherJack Oh I completely agree! That's kinda my own personal issue with this topic.
But I'm not smart enough to date a smart woman :'(
Then get smarter. See, that's a reason to date smart women, they'll push you to become smarter, and therefore, a better person.
is this supposed to be a joke?
I like smart women, but I don't like nerdy women.
I want one ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
😛
Because no one likes to feel outsmarted ;)
Um... So basically, you click-baited. Great...
Hahaha love it
