He hasn't texted me all day?

So, this guy texted me and said "hey". We had a pretty normal conversation and then I ended it because I was about to go to sleep. It's three days later and he hasn't texted me. I felt so sad and confused. I finally broke down and texted him first. I felt a little like he was giving short replies, but he was occasionally asking me questions, which made me feel better. Except, he just kept short replying and I was commiting to the conversation a lot more than he was. So, basically I was talking about how I had volleyball like five times a week and how it was awful. He replies like two hours later with "Dang." A short reply. I just didn't reply because I was so confused and mad. I just don't understand. He hasn't texted me since and he knows I read it. What does this mean?
