Why does he keep adding me back on social media?

So I tried a friend's with benefits arrangement with a man and it didn't end well. He started standing me up, would never really text back and I also started getting feelings for him so I thought it would be best to end it. After I told him I think it's best for me to not talk to him anymore, he texted me a few days after like nothing happened, I chose to ignore it. I also removed him from all my social media so that it would be easier for me to let go. I did not want to block him because I still like him as a person but I don't want to see any of his stuff and he keeps adding me back. I've literally removed him from my Snapchat three different times and he added me back again today even after I told him I didn't really want to talk to him like that anymore. I don't understand. I don't think that he likes me back but what other reason would you want to keep someone on social media. Like why? What do I do?
