He pulls up to get you for your first date and his car is a beater! What do you do?

GIRLS: You met a cute guy who seemed to have interests similar to yours and the conversation flowed very easily. After 10 minutes, he asked for your phone number and you gladly gave it to him. A few days later, he called and asked for a dinner date. You immediately accepted and you were so excited you almost wet your pants. (Maybe not. :) :) :) ) You bought a new outfit for the occasion. When the time arrived, you were discretely looking out through the blinds on the living room window and you saw him pull up. . . in a beater! (A beater is a car that runs okay but looks so awful that if you took a baseball bat and beat it up, it could not depreciate in value!)

What did you think? Was your excitement dampened? Did you still want to go out with him?

GUYS: You met a girl who was pretty, clever, entertaining, and you were obviously attracted to her. You think you two may really be compatible. You got her phone number, called and asked for a date, and you are taking her to dinner. There's just one problem: your finances have been very tight the past few years and you are still driving the same old beater car. It runs but people sometimes turn and stare because. . . they haven't seen an AMC Gremlin on the road in a long time!

Are you concerned about how she will react? Are you worried that the first impression may not be very favorable? Would you consider borrowing a friend's car for the first date?

Reminds me of the time I had a used bear up camaro z28 iroc, 1983 I believe lol. The thing was so beat up that you'd smell gasoline in there hardcore. I even think rain used to seep in around the pedals. Maybe a hole or something lol bope

Anyways, I had to drive a girl home once cause she was too drunk. So I put her in my beat up trashed up camaro lol and lo and behold the gasoline smell was so strong that she puked all over because of it lol

She def never came back in that piece of junk lol

I'd still go out with and have a good time. And if we hit it off, ask for a second date. Under 2 conditions: the car must be clean inside like there can't be trash, food, fast food bags, clothes, pet hair etc all over the floor or seat. And the passenger door must open. I'm not climbing over his seat. If it doesn't open I'm driving. These 2 conditions are non negotiable and not up for discussion.

If it looks unsafe, I'm gonna refuse to get in it. The car in that picture doesn't look safe to me. I'm dating someone without a car so clearly I don't really give a shit if someone has a car or the quality of it, but I'm not gonna get in something that looks like it's gonna fall apart and put me at risk.

I don't care if a guy even has a car at all. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable getting into a car that didn't look safe. If a guy showed up in with a car in as bad shape as the ones in your pictures, I would probably suggest that we take my car instead.

I'd rather he have a beater that runs, and that he takes care of than someone who wastes money they don't need to on a car when it would be of better use elsewhere. Money is tight these days, wasting money unnecessarily is unattractive to be honest

Maybe he testing you to find out how materialistic you are. :) Maybe his mom had to borrow his car so he brought a friend's car. Who knows? Either way, I'd be along for the ride. A little rust doesn't scare me.

if she's any kind of decent girl and knows what real values are, the type of car he drives shouldn't make a difference. Because I'll tell you right now if any girl decides not to date me or be with me because of the car I Drive or the things I have then she's not the one for me anyway!

Of course i would be worried about her impression towards me. I would tell her about my beater car first before i pick her up. If she ignores me after that, then she's not for me. As simple as that.
But, looking at car's condition on your picture, i would rather ride my motorcycle instead.
