My boyfriend is going to a concert without me. Do I have a right to be mad?

First of all, I have been with my boyfriend for 6yrs now. He has this group of friends that he hangs out with. Most of the time I'm fine with him going out. He's taken "trips" with them before. Mostly with some of his family. But one time he went on a 3 day trip with them behind my back and slept at a hotel. I had to find out where he was through his aunt. I told him that I don't like him going on trips with them or sleeping anywhere other than his own house. On another side note, i dont trust his friends. They are careless and one of them (who my boyfriend is closer to) tends to like doing drugs and drinks constanlty. My boyfriend doesn't drink or do drugs (or so he says.) But still I don't like him hanging around people like that. Yesterday he told me he's going to a concert with them in the city and staying at a hotel. He never invited me or asked if I was ok with it. He just told me he was going. I got mad over the fact that he doesn't care what I previously said and that he would rather experience his first concert without me. I'm I getting mad or nothing or do you think I have a reason to be mad?

It's quite normal to do things with just mates. You need trust in order for a relationship to work. Also you're both adults and you're not hus mother, you shouldn't tell him what he can and can't do. He should communicate more to you when he is doing something though, not hide it.

I would say that you do have reason to be upset. Are you overreacting? Possibly. Is he being an asshole? Definitely. I completely understand the sentiment about his friends, and he should never leave for several days without at least telling you.

You have to be able to trust your SO. trust that he won’t do anything behind your back. But he went out behind your back? Why tho? Why keep that a secret? Why wouldn’t he want you to know about it? That’s a little fishy.

Well, this thing happened when I found out he was messaging a girl behind my back. He would tell me he was working or going to sleep but instead he just wanted to message her all day. We fought over it and he agreed he wouldn't talk to her but still, all the trust I had before isn't fully there yet.
