Everyone says “I can do better than him”?

So for about 2 months I’ve been getting close to this guy and although initially I wasn’t physically attracted to him, after getting to know his personality I actually find him really attractive-even if he isn’t my usual type visually. Anyway I’ve shown pictures of him to my friends and family and all anyone can say is “he’s not very good looking you can do better than him”. I’m not particularly bothered as it doesn’t concern them who I like but it still makes me feel a bit weird if we’d look strange together...

They only say that because they don’t know him how you do & people tend to pass judgement from what they see first.
my ex, that I was with for 3 years, was like this. He wasn’t physically my type & I wasn’t attracted to him but the more I got to know him the more attractive he became & I fell in love with who he was.

At first, I was embarrassed by people’s comments because he was something completely new & different. I was always told “you could do so much better” & at first it got to me BUT after they got to know him & saw how we were around each other & how happy he made me, their opinions changed.

So it’s naturally ok to be a bit bothered by their opinions but if he makes you happy & you really like him eventually those opinions won’t matter & will change.

That's rather rude of them making that comment. Hopefully you defend him and say he's not the best looking guy but he makes me happy and that's what's important. Sure I can go find a better guy that treats me worse but you all would be happy because he's cuter. Fuck their opinion

I don't think their opinion matters. It's good that you like him through his personality because that won't change but his looks will
