Is it weird to go to an SO’s prom when you’re 20 and in college?

I’ve known my boyfriend (18) for a few years, but we’ve only been dating for a few months. He asked me to go to his prom with him, which I’m allowed to since I’m under 21. However, I feel weird. I’m a 20yo girl and I can definitely pass as 17, but I still get an awkward vibe when I think about it. Of course I’d like to go to make him happy, but I’m scared it’ll be awkward. I’ll be surrounded by a bunch of children I don’t know. In reality, that’s a bit comforting because who cares what strangers think about you, but it still feels odd. Should I suck it up, make him happy and try to have a good time or should I try to get out of it?

I hope I’m not sounding like an asshole. I guess I just sometimes care about what people think of me

Not bad, but rare nonetheless.


My personal thoughts on prom tho is that, it’s fucken dumb. I not once think about my memories in high school tbh.


That being said, I think prom is given too much hype etc.


But to answer your question, I wouldn’t say it’s weird. Given he’s your boyfriend. If he wasn’t that, then yeah I would say it’s weird
