He told me he's obsessed with me?

So I've known this guy for 8 months now and we been talking for 4 months every single day, all day, we game out everyday and night and we really really gotten to know eachother. We are the exact same person, same personality, same interests and we just really really hit it off and have laughs and we both feel so happy, we both get butterflies by eachother and I have never been so into anyone this much and he says the same thing. we both helped eachother out of depression after personal life issues that happened to us and he's the most sweetest guy I've ever met. Recently he's told me he's obsessed with me but it's not the obsession where he would hurt me or himself, he can't go a day without hearing from me and he messages me good morning evey single morning when he wakes up, on break at work and when he gets home from work. He's told his whole family and friends about me and his dad has told me that he can't stop talking about me and he's never seen him so happy since I've been talking to him.. should I wait before making it official or is 4 months long enough? I'm afraid to start a relationship due to my past but this guy is soooooo different I wouldn't even compare and is it to early for him to feel obsessed?

"Obsessed" may have just been a poor choice of words, like he was trying to be sweet but chose the wrong word or something. 4 months is long enough if you're comfortable with it, go with your gut feeling I'd say. There's a warning sign though that he may end up being dependent on you or maybe even a bit controlling, but you would know if those concerns are valid better than I
