My boyfriend is still close friends with a girl who used to like him a few months ago and almost had a thing with him. I got upset about it and asked him to stop talking to her and unadd her but he got defensive and said no. When I asked why he told me that his and her mom were friends and they’ve known each other since they were kids. He also told me that she was there for him in a lot of situations. I added the girl on Instagram and my boyfriend texted me telling me that she told him I requested her and asked me why. A few months ago my boyfriend also told me that if i didn’t like anyone in his life they’d be gone straight away, which is funny considering he didn’t unadd the girl. I’m frustrated that she’s still in his life. Is what he’s doing normal and okay? And if not, how do I deal with this?

It's normal for a guy to have friends that he considers too close to throw away without good reason. Has he given you any reason to think that he would cheat on you? I mean, if he wanted to be with her, he would be, right? But he's not with her. He's with you.

Is it okay? Honestly, she probably still has feelings for him, but there's nothing you can do about that. Giving him an ultimatum is just going to make you look bad. Not the same situation, but when I was engaged my fiance didn't like my best friend and didn't want him in our wedding. I told her that if that's the way she felt she could have the engagement ring back. I don't like ultimatums.
