Is makeup catfishing?

Question

Most women don't like the same at all without makeup. It hides all of their imperfections and boosts their confidence. Without it, a lot of women feel insecure, and that's their real persona. Most high-profile models and celebrities look like ordinary people without makeup. So why create such a fake world in the first place. Hundreds of years ago there was almost no makeup, yet women were the same and confident too and men liked them. I know some guys' friends broke off with their girlfriends after seeing them without makeup. But tons of guys will date a not-so-perfect girl too but they usually don't go for them.
Why start a relationship with a false pretext in the first place?
Girls say they wear makeup for themselves to feel more confident, attractive. How does makeup help with it? Confidence comes with being a good person, being intelligent, or talented, with a good job and life.
A lot of women complain that hot-looking women date ugly guys, but chances are higher she is in the same bracket with him without makeup.
Personally, I am okay with women having imperfections. I like freckles or smile lines.

Hollywood actors too wear makeup.

"Catfishing" is using 100% false images on social media. Using makeup by definition is NOT catfishing. I like to use the term "come to Jesus moment" to describe these types of things. As with real catfishing at some point, that other person is going to see the real you OR you will stay online never meet. This catfishing phenomenon is why I don't like blind dates. However, allow me to spin this question around, and let's look at it from a different perspective. Would you want to actually date someone so shallow you would need to use makeup this heavy? This is my standard when it comes to the women I hang around with. I expect them to be clean, take some pride in their attire and not have tats or meth teeth. Moles and other things like scars don't bother me. I often date a lady who has a really bad scar on one side of her face. All the way from her ear to her chin. Got it in a bad car crash that actually killed her husband. She could have fixed it, but after almost 2 years of painful surgery and recovery, she just opted to use some makeup to cover it. You can still see it though. This gal is a hoot to be around. Is one of the best dart throwers I have ever met. Can smack an ass playing pool as well. Has no hangups and honestly, when I take her home I leave with a smile on my face. My point I guess is people today seem to have become so shallow and superficial that dating just is not worth it anymore. To answer that question. NO caking makeup on a face is NOT catfishing!

Oh, come on. That's such an easy thing to say. Someone could easily counter it with:

"Why are women so obsessed with wondering why men are so obsessed with how women choose to live their lives? Like worry about your own gender. Why so nosey?"

This type of thinking doesn't get anywhere. Mainly because the oversimplifications are fogging up everything. Making it harder for someone to actually reason with you since they'd have to correct all the misconceptions & misperceptions of the given situation or idea.

Most women don’t wear loads of makeup every day, but if you look at someone with a full face of makeup and think that’s how they actually look then it’s kinda on you - it’s not cat fishing at all. It’s pretty obvious when someone’s got a full face on, and most people do it because it’s fun or to enhance natural features. And you’ll eventually see them with no makeup like when they’re going to bed or on a lazy day. It’s really shallow to split up with someone because you see them without makeup. I usually wear natural makeup if any, but if I’m going out for a nice meal it just makes you feel more put together. I like the way it looks when I have my hair done and a nice dress on I think it all ties together nice for me, so it makes me feel confident. And I also feel confident with no makeup.

My boyfriend loves me whether I have makeup on or no makeup and tells me I’m beautiful either way. When I’m in the mood to do it then I’ll do it because I like it, when I’m not in the mood and want a fresh face then I won’t because I like it without.

I think it is catfishing to a certain point. If you're wearing makeup to change your entire face and make yourself look different then it's definitely catfishing. You're right about how some women use makeup because they're insecure and they want to hide their imperfections. Also, women who constantly put on layers of makeup are messing up their faces and it makes them look less attractive.

But there are a lot of women who don't use makeup to hide their imperfections. They're still confident in themselves but perhaps they just like the style. They don't really look different when they wear some makeup. Honestly I don't like makeup that much. But I do like to wear lipstick sometimes. I have imperfections like most people. I have acne but I still don't want to wear heavy makeup.

No one’s perfect, at all.
I don’t wear make up, I dont have time though to put it on and maintain it and take it off and go buy it and blah blah - it’s a hobby if anything.. I feel that even something as simple as face powder could slighty change my face. One that was kind of dull and tired can be fixed with a few dap on the nose and cheeks.

On dating apps though, I mostly show pictures of me with no make up (sometimes even just waking up) and no filter so people just know right away how my actual face looks like.

I guess yeah if you keep giving out pictures of you in full make up and only that when you actually have acne problems, it's kind of a form of catfishing.

But if you meet the person in real life wearing make up, you'd know if they have skin problems or anything right away. But, lots of men don't actually know that thick eye brows are sometimes fake.

I don't see it as cat fishing. I see it as women that are unwilling to fully embrace their humanity. The same can very much be said of men as well. Look I had several major surgeries on my head. Had every thing from both sides of my skull removed, put back in and drainage tubes hooked into the back of my skull. I started going bald several years ago as well. Also I quickly found out after growing out my beard I look like Grigori Rasputin long lost twin. But I'm not going to wear a hat or save my beard of. Because I fully accepted my humanity and the flaws that come with it.

Also lets be honest accepting out flaws takes a very strong person. So next time a person who has cakes on makeup or gets a hair plugs calls themself strong, you really need to question it.

there are extremes and a lot of the time too much makeup just looks crap.

A guy has to be really fucking naive if he does not understand girls and make up.

This is like stuff you tend to learn about 16 when you start dating at school, you know what she looks without makeup, then you see her with make up.

Most of the time, that’s how it works you chat to a girl with none, minimal make up on and then you go on a date and she glams up a bit, if it’s too much then it looks odd more than hot.

Also it sort of points out a level of shallow if it’s just looks a person goes for in a relationship.

A relationship is more than just appearance.

There is also a level of confidence it gives the other person.

The examples you're giving are not catfishing, it's just women hiding imperfections; but people simply tolerate it because it's not a huge change, we get the premise behind makeup, and eventually any partner she has will see her without it.

Women wear makeup because they like it such as alternative and goth makeup which definitely doesn’t appease to men but it’s a form of art. But regular daily makeup is meant to enhance our features. A lot of women wear it because they feel more confident in themselves and beautiful. In a way yeah, but I'd say only when it's really heavy. Heavy contour, drawing on thick eyebrows, making your lips looking two times bigger... that just seems a bit "catfishy" lol

Natural looking makeup or just makeup that enhances your features but doesn't completely change them is the go to in my opinion.

Though I personally only use eyeliner and mascara and these two things make a big change without me trying :D

Well Catfishing is a deceptive activity where a person creates a fictional persona or fake identity on a social networking service, usually targeting a specific victim for financial gain, to compromise a victim in some way as a way to intentionally upset a victim, or for wish fulfillment.

It can't be catfishing if you present yourself presumably online as in a dating app, as a woman wearing make-up and don't represent that you are someone else. If make-up, even as much as the first image, were such an issue to the point where it could be labeled as catfishing, then no one would be allowed to wear it for the driver's license photo or other government ID, but that's not the case because there is an assumption when you see someone wearing make-up that they may look somewhat different without it, but they aren't pretending to actually be someone else that is not them.

Most women do look still the same with makeup, there is just a minority of women who are really talented with make up and can transform their faces.

The majority only uses like concealer and some mascara and maybe blush or and little eyeshadow for their daily makeup and that does not make a new face

I prefer the natural beauty of a woman and women that are happy with the way they look without makeup these days. I think the issue is guys are not used to women with no makeup.
almost every woman out there covers their face in makeup from a young age, so guys don't grow up seeing women without makeup.
In my honest opinion (and you're welcome to deny the idea), it would probably help women reduce stress by not having to worry about putting on makeup, plus it would help with letting the skin breathe and just do basic skin care for a while.
